Summer Singles League

brought to you by HiTops & GLTF

The league runs from July 8th, 2024 through August 14th, 2024 and is for all levels and all genders! Matches will be held on weeknights at SFSU from 6pm to 8pm. Registration opens Saturday, June 15th and is expected to fill up fast. Another email will go out Saturday morning with registration details. There is a $60 cost per player. You must be logged into your GLTF account with an active membership to register.

Part one: Box Ladders will begin on July 8th and run for 4 weeks. Compete against players at or close to your level for the chance to move up or down. The top two players from each box each week will move up a box, and the bottom two will move down. At the end of the 4 weeks, all players will advance to the championship round, competing against the other players in the category they landed in. During the Box Ladders, you will play one night per week. Keep in mind that your night of the week may change based on your performance. By signing up for the league, you are acknowledging that you can attend on any given weeknight during the league. Given the nature of the box ladder, it's more likely that you will move around by 1 day or so, as D level players will comprise the bottom of the ladder and Open level players will comprise the top of the ladder. See below for a breakdown of the format and schedule.

Each session, you will play a match for time against each of the three other players in your box. You are playing for number of games won during a 30 minute timed match. Full-ad scoring and standard changeovers (90 seconds max per USTA rules). At the end of each match, you will enter your scores in Tournamentsoftware, and and the end of each week, boxes will be recalibrated based on scores.

If a player must miss one match during the league, it is allowable with 24 hours advanced notice. Please give further notice if possible. For a missed session, the player accepts a score of 0-1 for all three of their matches that evening, which automatically bumps them down a box. Reserve players will be called in to fill in and play for the evening, however scores will record 0-1 in favor of the league player in attendance. If a player misses a session without 24 hours advanced notice, or misses more than 1 session with notice, their entry is withdrawn and they will be replaced with a reserve player closest to their level who will enter the bottom of the box. No refunds will be issued to withdrawn/no-show players, no exceptions. Further, if a player must withdraw from the league ahead of time and would like to be refunded, the final date to do so is June 24th. Please be mindful of these guidelines as there is a huge amount of coordination and cost involved to set this up for our players.

Reserve participants will be called upon 1- if a league player withdraws up to two weeks before the league begins. The reserve player will then pay the $60 entry fee and be added to the league. OR 2- if a player cannot attend a league match the reserve player will have the opportunity to attend and play for the evening, free of charge. OR 3- if a league player is removed during the league, the reserve player will enter the bottom of the box that most closely matches their level. The reserve player will not be charged any fees.

Levels: we are using GLTA ranking. If you already have a GLTA ranking, sign up for your level. If you do not have a GLTA ranking or don't know it please check out this article for how to self rate based on USTA rating or skill level https://glta.net/glta-rankings/
