This four-session program combines effective instruction with fun opportunities for social play.
Classes are Oct. 28, Nov. 4, 11 & 18.
What is it: Four 2-hour sessions, with drills & instruction, followed by social play. Sessions will focus on specific techniques and/or strategies to get you on your way to being a 3.0 level player.
Perfect for: Beginners and advanced beginners.
Instructor: Local pro Tim Connolly, along with a GLTF assistant every week
Date & Times: Saturdays - Oct 28, Nov 4, 11 & 18 from 10am – 12pm @ SF State
Cost: The 4 week course is $60 for new members (less than 6 months) and $80 for current members.
Week 1: Get 5 balls in in a row.
Main idea is to add "performance" criteria to the forehand. "5" in a row is high for a 3.0, but the point is to make people work with different strategies and ideas, try different techniques, and ask players to work on their defense.
Week 2: Get Involved At the Net!
Main thing here is to get folks to participate at the net, and not retreat into an alley. Feel the burden as a doubles partner to participate and help the team.
Week 3: 1 Double Fault Per Service Game
Again, adding a performance criteria to the serve, and adding the idea of thinking of an entire game...6 points of serving...and how to only double fault once in 6 points.
Week 4 Return of Serve
Develop more consistent return of serves to win more games!
This is a great way to get your tennis started or back in form. You will have lots of opportunities to meet other GLTFers and most important, have fun. Space is limited to 12.
